Quiz: Name That Heist!

“Woah! What’s this?” I hear you say. Well, don’t worry, dear reader – you can rest assured. A while back now, I introduced a new category in this blog called Trivia. Trivia quickly died. Well, not really, but instead of being a regular weekly thing, it’s a one off, premium article published on a Sunday every so often. And this new category is something similar:

Yes, I’ve been greatly dissatisfied with some of the inadequacy of a few quizzes out there, so I decided to have a go at trying my own plough at the game. Now, how long this will last, or whether it will be any success at all is up to you, dear reader, but after my review of Logan Lucky, I got to discussing a list of best classic heists, and I decided that’s what the first edition of Over-The-Shoulder quiz will be. Okay, maybe not classics, but heist films none the less.

The rules are simple: just name the film that features in the picture. Easy as that. So, have fun, tell me how I did, and I’ll tell you how you did in the comments below!

And that’s a wrap! Submit your guesses in the comments below and we’ll see how you did! And remember, get your guesses in quickly, or someone might get there first…

  1. I should know more,

    13) King of Thieves
    14) Italian Job
    19) Thunderbolt & Lightfoot

    1. First in! And you’ve done well – 6 correct. I’m afraid Alex can’t talk because Alex stole that idea from a man called Chandler Swain, and I bet Chandler stole it from someone else as well. Nothing is original!

        1. I don’t know about a list on Friday. I’ve seen the movies I’ve mentioned though had to look up a couple of the titles (I’ve seen both Jeff Bridges movies and mixed them up πŸ™„. ) I think I’ve seen a few of the others too but very vague on those.

    1. 10 out of 11! Pretty impressive, I must say. 6 is wrong, but 6 is one the hardest ones there, I think.

However, I’m afraid there’s the little matter of the rules – Fraggle and Sopantooth above already guessed 9 of your answers, so *technically* you only got one. I know, it’s very harsh, but that’s why you need to get in early on these quizzes. Still, very impressive Brian!

        1. All you do is rename them in whatever folder you store them in so that when you upload them they’re under a generic name. All of mine have names like q12501.

        2. Okidoki. It was a rookie mistake. Next time I can assure the quiz will be perfect.

Btw, hear me out on this theory. I set comment moderation ON for just the quiz article, so people can submit all their answers just to me and they’ll be no possibility of cheating. And then I could release the comments about 48 hours later and announce the winner. How does that sound?

        3. Maybe overly competitive? I mean, I enjoy quizzes, but I don’t care about winning. But maybe that’s just me. I think it’s fine as it is.

        4. I can only imagine all the therapy someone like Dix would need though. I wouldn’t want one person taking up all my time.

  4. That’s a long quiz! Let me start with the first few: 1) Now You See Me 2, 3) The Ladykillers, 5) Ocean’s Twelve, 7) Taking of Pelham 123, 14) Italian Job… Is four Pink Panther? And 11 looks like a Hitchcock movie πŸ˜‰

    1. 6 out of 6! An impressive showing. Is four Pink Panther? Interesting guess, but that’s wrong. It’s probably one of the toughest ones there if you haven’t watched the film. Is eleven a Hitchcock movie? Nice idea, but also wrong. It’s pretty much the exact opposite of a Hitchcock!

        1. Thanks for the praise Ola, I hope you enjoyed it. Yeah, I think that’s a good idea. It’s just a difficult one to time right in case you get late comers, but I will definitely release the answers some time!

  5. I’m not very good at that game but I try anyway :
3/ lady killers by the Coen
    8/ dog day afternoon maybe
    9/ Heat (easy)
    19/ I dare a Pale Rider
    20/ Drive
    24/ Bonnie and Clyde
    25/ hell or high water

    1. 6 out of 7 – great score! Well done on Heat – none one’s got that so far. 19 is wrong, but a good guess. 20 is technically Driver, not Drive, but I’ll still give you the point. Thanks for taking part! The answers will be released tomorrow with the next quiz if all goes as planned!

  6. Hi! I did not read the other comments, I’ll do that later because I really loved your quiz and wish to see many of the movies you choose! Here’s my little guess, not much but the best I could. Anyway thank you for the fun!

    2) Mission: Impossible
    3) Ladykillers
    5) Ocean’s Twelve
    8) Dog Day Afternoon
    11) The Blues Brothers
    12) How to Steal a Million
    20) Drive
    23) Usual Suspects

    1. Hi! Thanks for getting involved and for the very kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed.

You’ve done well – 7 out of 8, and even got some that others haven’t so far, so definite praise for that. Number two is wrong, but a very tough one if you haven’t watched the film. The rest though are all correct, so well done! Tomorrow I’m going to release the answers before the next quiz, so check in again to see if there were any others you could have gotten. I’ll look out for you!

  7. OK, here’s what I got, in order.

    Now You See Me 2

    Ocean’s 12

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three
    Dog Day Afternoon
The Blues Brothers (I may have taken a bit of artistic license with that one)
    How to Steal a Million
    King of Thieves
    The Italian Job
    Reservoir Dogs
    The Driver
Dead Freight (Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 5)
    Million Dollar Baby
    Thunderbolt and Lightfoot
Bande Γ‘ part (Band of Outsiders)

    1. Thanks for playing! And not too badly either, eh? 9 out of 11! 6 is very impressive – no one else managed to get that. So is 8 and 11. The matter of the wrong guesses? 10 and 12 – interesting ideas, but neither are right. I’ll let you stew that over, but if you want to find all the correct answers, you can check out the next quiz, which I’ll attach below:

      Thanks again!

      1. Cool. I’ll have to do a reverse Google Image search and come up with the others. πŸ™‚

BTW, this is a brilliant concept! Dammit. πŸ™‚ LOL!
